Purchasable Skill Points
Allow us to purchase skill points in a manner similar to Skill purchasing.
Start 1 skill point off at 100g. Increase its cost by 100g each time a skill point is purchased, maxing at 2k. 2k might seem steep...but it would be a good (albeit small) drain on the economy.
Hell, maybe even 3k, 4k, or 5k. That way, you wouldn't just buy 1,000 skill points and go "meh, who cares, it's only plat." (well, not everyone anyway.)
-- Some people don't like to PvP, but very much enjoy PvE. There are countless builds out there, most of which require some skills from other classes, and sometimes an elite of another class. It's hard to keep up with all of these builds when skill points aren't as easy to come by as it may seem.
Especially on a core class. 25 Elites + what, 50 skills or so? More? Yeah, it's gotta be more... My Elementalist has 98 Skill points spent, and still needs to unlock 14 non-elites / 0 elites.
After a while, your skill point allowance is hindered by the lack of progress you can make in the game. I know this because my Elementalist has completed Factions and Prophecies (from LA to Drok's, then Ice Caves -> IMoM -> THK -> Ring of Fire and the remaining missions). Granted, If I got the mission / bonus for all of those and masters on 100% of the Canthan quests, I might have enough to purchase everything...but I still wouldn't be able to get many skills for other classes without having to farm out some quests to Exp skill points.
Anyway.... that's my feeling on it. I'm sure there's at least one other PvE'r out there that would agree with me

Masters on all Canthan missions yield 39 skill points (33 if you're Tyrian) and 58500 exp (49500 if Tyrian) which is another 4-5 skill points at level 20. Add the ridiculous amount of 3000 exp quests around Kaineng and you can easily make all the skill points you could possibly need unless you plan on unlocking all skills for all professions.
I can't say I see this as a necessity, so /notsigned
-edit-
Completely wrong numbers, didn't have a chance to get on and fix them untill now.

The last thing we need is a feature to further facilitate laziness. If you want to buy skills, go out and earn skill points just like everyone else.

We were talking about skill points on IRC a few weeks back and thought it'd be better to either get rid of them or make buying a skill and either/or thing: pay the skill points or pay the money.

Yeah I think buying them would make more sense and make it slightly more difficult (in a good way.) The quests just hand them out. Right now they are completely pointless.

Edit: I just noticed I think he's saying he wants to buy them to make it easier? Weird.. I think buying them instead of quests would make you have less skill points. Hmm

My problem is having the money rather then having the skillpoints... Anyway, there will be enough quests throughout all 3 chapters that will give skillpoints. Earn them.

Dude, are we playing the same game here ? Facilitate laziness in a game that's supposed to be anti-grind ? Skills allow you to actually play the game rather than waste time with unnecessary stuff. I fully support this, skills should be the most accessible thing in the game.

^ Actually you gotta grind 10K XP since you earn 5k from capping a skill. May I suggest the repeatable quests in Factions like the Jade Arena? You can get your skill point in 10-15 mins there (5 runs). THAT is not a pain

/signed for some sort of change to the accumulation of skill points.
After finishing Prophecies (mission and bonuses and the titan quests), and Factions (masters on 9 of 13) I have 38 skill points.
Trying to get Skill Hunter, I currently have 76 Elites, I need another 194 skill points to max out this title.
That's 2,910,00 XP more that I need. I have 1,700,000 currently. I do not farm with this character for gold, items, or experience.
Granted I will earn 970,000 XP from capping, which leaves me with 1,940,000 XP still to earn.
If all missions in Elona grant me a skill point, that means 20 missions will reduce my XP necessary by 100,000. If I get masters on the last 4 missions in Cantha that will reduce it a further 20,000.
That means I need 1,820,000 XP from quests and killing mobs. I've played for over 14 months to be at 1,700,000.
There has to be some alternative to getting skill points!

So instead of farming for skill points you're farming for money to buy skill points?
I haven't gone to unlock all skills, just the ones I think my char needs, so perhaps I don't quite understand your problem. There probably should be more repeatable quests(like sorrows furnace, perhaps), but as someone has pointed out there are quite a few in Cantha as well.
But thats just my (uninformed) two cents

If it were to be added then those prices are too high. That would make skills cost 2-3k each, and people are already complaining that 1k per skill is too high.

You want something? Work for it instead of trying to change the game.
Let me go and whine about how Mission completion takes forever omg just make it so like if your other characters did it it counts for all... or perhaps buying for the completion.
It's a title. If you want it so bad, work for it.

To get every skill and elite skill in the game (Prophecies & Factions) you will need to gain approximately 8,500,000 xp. I know, I have them all on one character.

Meh, the only real reason for this is for pvp. If you get skills as you need them for a character you really should never need more than your class skills + maybe 30 others. And if this is for pvp.. go and pvp for the rest >.< And you won't need EVERY pvp skill either! Find me a build for primal rage lol (and not a silly gimmick build, one that will actually work in TA/Hoh)

You think it's difficult now? You should have tried it back when you got zero XP for capping an Elite. Grind that one out.
I'm currently on 152 elites, and I'm liking the pace of reward. It keeps bringing me back to the game now that I've done most PvE stuff there is to do, other than farm.

I agree with this. not that i want them to increase the gold drops because that takes away the fun of earning it. The system is set up so you can easily get enough skills for a variety of builds by just completing the missions and quests. if you really want to be creative and make an uber character, well then it'll take some work, which is good.
Also i think there's something coming with nightfall(hero points) that will be another way to get skills in adition to skill points. maybe that'll fix it.

Cap Signets cost 1 skillpoint and 1 plat per acquisition.
The money is a bigger problem than the skillpoints. Curently have 70 something remaining of the almost 400 earned.
Acquiring skillpoints is far from hard.
Do a couple of FoW runs and you'll get your skillpoints up in notime.
/notisgned due to the lazyness of some people.
